The Red, White & Royal Blue movie release date is August 11, 2023. It will be released on Amazon Prime Video, The movie had its world premiere at the BFI IMAX in London on July 22, 2023, although its actors were absent due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike. Matthew Lopez was the only member of the production present but did not walk the red carpet, or give interviews as he was also on strike as a member of the Writers Guild of America.
The movie is based on the 2019 novel of the same name by Casey McQuiston. It tells the story of Alex Claremont-Diaz, the son of the first woman President of the United States, and Prince Henry of England, who are forced to fake a friendship when their parents become rivals. However, the two men soon find themselves falling in love.
The movie stars Taylor Zakhar Perez as Alex Claremont-Diaz, Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Henry, Uma Thurman as President Ellen Claremont-Diaz, and Sarah Paulson as Queen Elizabeth II. It is directed by Matthew Lopez and produced by Amazon Studios and Berlanti Productions.
