Spanish giants, Barcelona are yet to agree on the structure of a deal to sell Frenkie de Jong to Manchester United, according to Spanish journalist, Gerard Romero.
This is despite the player being in constant communication with Man United boss, Erik ten Hag.
The negotiation to sign the former Ajax star has entered weeks now as Ten Hag makes the midfielder his top transfer priority this summer.
The clubs are said to have agreed a deal for a fee of around £56million, in addition to various add-ons which would take the total package to £75m.
But they appear to be at odds over the structure of the deal, with the Catalan side keen on receiving a bigger guaranteed fee up front.
Speaking on his Twitch show Jijantes FC, Spanish journalist Gerard Romero revealed that Barcelona are holding out for close to £64m up front in addition to £10m in add-ons and bonuses.
However, Barcelona manager, Xavi Hernandez has also made it clear he does not want the Dutch midfielder to leave Camp Nou this summer.
The manager wants to be sure there is a replacement for the midfielder before considering letting him join Manchester United who are desperately in search of a top quality central midfielder.
United have watched Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic, all midfielders, leave the club this summer.
In the meantime, De Jong has been left in a state of limbo and is unsure of where he will be playing his football next season.
